" All joy and glory of creation fits comfortably in the modest scenario of a potter´s workshop "

Monfort Atelier workshop is established in an old farm near Montevideo, Uruguay. It´s history starts long time ago in Spain where Eduardo Olascuaga, its director and designer started his first sculpture and ceramics studio in 1976. Moved to Uruguay in 1986 , production at a larger scale allowed exports of its collectibles worldwide for 20 years exhibiting in Frankfurt show ( Messe Frankfurt in both annual editions ) during this long period as well. During this stage the small factory name was Cal Ignasi in memory of the original middle age stone house in the mountains of Catalunya where the first studio was founded after a short stage of three years in Barcelona. Actually Cal Ignasi, after a profound adjustment to market requirements adapting to the new conditions considering Asian strong presence in all markets, restarted production again with its original catalogue plus novelties as it has been traditionally .
Since 2008 Eugenia Olascuaga, Eduardo's elder daughter belongs to the familiy workshop active staff producing her own line and designs, adding fresh ideas to the family's tradition. As usual Monfort as Cal Ignasi in former days works only upon own designed models and its production is entirely handmade and handpainted.
